Mailroom

In the UHMC Mailroom, we accept all deliveries via FedEx, FedEx Ground, UPS, OfficeMax or Hopaco, and even the United States Postal Service (USPS).  We manually log all incoming and outgoing parcels even if it may be express or confidential.  We also do courtesy calls to every faculty member or lecturer to notify them that they have received a box or package and its available to be picked up at the mailroom.  Some parcels we can deliver but one we strictly do not deliver are electronics because we do not want to be liable for any damages or whatsoever that may happen to the electronics. After we sort all daily mail that comes in via USPS, we distribute them all in to the campus mailboxes in our office to make sure that the campus gets all their mails or important documents to resume all operation on campus.

Switchboard

The University of Hawaii Switchboard is one of the important departments on campus because we deal with all local, international and worldwide callers calling for whichever purpose on campus.  Our Switchboard extension on campus is 500, we help our campus by dialing Long Distance calls as well as connecting conference calls.  Some days we deal with angry callers because whoever or whichever department they are trying to reach is not answering their phones, or their teacher gave them a grade less than what they deserve and demand to speak to them. While some of these people can be very rude and unpleasant to interact with, our job as Switchboard or commonly known as an operator, we have to deliver and show the spirit of Aloha no matter what. Our boss or Supervisor, Ms. Iris Latu always trains her student assistants or workers to make sure that even though we can talk our normal selves whenever but as soon as we pick up the switchboard phone we do it with Aloha!
